Savanna-la-Mar, Jamaica Grace Kennedy Food Wastewater Treatment Plant

Wastewater Treatment Plant
300 cubic meters per day

GK Foods, one of the largest manufacturers and processors of food items in Jamaica, has an issue at its processing plant in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland. The Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), ammonia and Phosphates all exceeded the local environmental regulatory authority standards.

WaterMatic designed a pre-treatment and tertiary wastewater treatment plant, with a capacity to handle 300 cubic meters per day, to reduce all the BOD, COD, TSS, ammonia and Phosphate levels to that of the standards set by local authorities.

WaterMatic provided a fully automatic containerized system to include the following: Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR), coagulation followed by sand filtration to remove the phosphates, sludge dewatering unit and disinfection using chlorinators.
