N-W Province, Sri Lanka Water Project

Saline Wells to Drinking Water
15 cubic meters per day each for 79 Units of Saline Wells

The water scarcity in the North-Western province in Sri Lanka raised the need to use underground water to provide drinking water to the growing population. The local authorities chose to desalinate water from saline wells. Watermatic had to supply and install the 79 units on site to be ready for use within six months.

All systems are of high quality with branded equipment. The system can be all monitored and controlled from the client’s offices using a state-of-the-art SCADA system.

The process includes pre-filtration, Reverse Osmosis and disinfection.

The treatment process implemented in all of the systems to achieve the required drinking water quality includes the following:

  • Multi-media filter
  • Activated carbon filter
  • Cartridge filter
  • Anti-scalant dosing
  • High pressure pump
  • 3 stages RO unit
  • UV disinfection
  • Re-mineralization

  • Permeate Tank & Public taps
  • CIP unit for each 10 RO unit
  • SCADA system for remote control of all the units
