River Water Treatment for Iron and Turbidity Removal

WaterMatic was requested to offer a plant that will treat river water with high turbidity and high Iron levels into drinking water. Iron in water is in its soluble form and therefore cannot be filtered, and this may cause health and aesthetic issues.
WaterMatic was selected to design, build and supply the water treatment plant. Iron removal was accomplished by Iron oxidation utilizing atmospheric air. Oxidized Iron becomes insoluble, in a form that can be filtered together with suspended solids.
The treatment process implemented in the system to achieve the required drinking water quality includes a feed pump; iron oxidation by air injection; chlorine gas injection for water disinfection and Iron oxidation; coagulant dosing and three units of multi-media filters, with an automatic backwash system.
